Steam/Hawks - Postgame

It wasn't even close. Summerland came into Beaver Valley Arena with hopes of pulling off an upset. They almost thought they had a chance when they jumped out to a quick 1-goal lead less than 3 mins. in on a seeing-eye-shot by Gerry Hol.  Those hopes were very quickly dashed when just 5 seconds later, Brock McDonald took a tripping penalty and Christian Johnson would make then pay for it just 36 seconds into the power play. That was the start of a 5 in a row penalty streak by the Steam that would have BV chalk up another ppg before the end of the period to take a 2-1 lead into the intermission.

The Nitehawks never looked back and knocked off 2 more goals by Edwards and Johnson(his 2nd of the night)just 4:35 into the 2nd period. Summerland would pull within 2 on a wicked wrist shot from Steve Semenoff with 7:09 remaining. Schapansky and Edwards would round out the scoring in the 3rd period.

Beaver Valley went 2 for 5(40%) on the PP while Summerland went 0 for 5.

Stars of the game were:
Justin Niminiken  - 1G 2A - 3Pts
Christian Johnson  - 2G 1A - 3Pts, seemed to be EVERYWHERE
Fraser Stang  - no points but a physical presence in both zones all night

Side Note: Nick Perez returned to action in tonights game only to be hit again in, oddly, the same place along the boards. He skated to the bench under his own power and later returned to the ice. Will try and get an update on his condition. Max Flanagan was struck with an errant stick while he was sitting on the bench and went to the dressing room for repairs, I will try and get an update there as well. With 5 players already out with injury and 1 for suspension, BV doesnt need anymore setbacks this early on.

Tomorrows game against Spokane is a 1PM start here at home. I, unfortunately, wont be able to make the game due to family commitments but will try and get you updates as I get them.
