Postgame: Leafs - 2 Hawks - 3

WHAT A GAME!!

Is there really anything else to say?? Well, ok maybe...

It was a close game. Fast at times, slow at times. Overall, it was a very VERY good game. Not much scoring, but what did go in was deserved. Craig Martin started it off on a mini-break up the middle and showed incredible patience waiting for the goalie(Walton) to make the first move then neatly tucked it behind him. Colton Schell scored for Nelson to open the 2nd period and tie it at 1. Martin got his 2nd of the game at the mid point of the game on a tipped point shot that I could have sworn came from Lashuk but was given to Edwards. Keanan Patershuk scored late in the 3rd on a beautiful cross-ice pass from Spear to put BV up 3-1 with 3:19 remaining but Leaf star patrick Martens pulled them back to within 1 just :36 seconds later on the power play. Several key saves late by Vlanich and the Nitehawks hung on to to take it 3-2.

This win vaults BV into 1st place in the division while still retaining their 3 games in hand over now 2nd place Nelson, and only 4 pts behind league leading Kamloops.

The "Golden Line" of Martin, Edwards, Derochie notched up 5 points combined while holding Nelson's Martens to just the 1 goal. Edwards and Martin are tied atop the KIJHL with 36 pts after 16 games played.

Game Stars:
BV - Mike Vlanich - key saves at a crucial time of the game
BV - Craig Martin - 2G and an offensive presence thruout
NL - Andrew Walton - If it wasnt for him, it would have been worse

Next game for the Nitehawks is tomorrow night in Spokane to take on the Braves. Next HOME game is November 10 as we play host to hapless Grand Forks. Game time then is 7:00pm.
