Hawks/Leafs - Postgame

As expected, it was a back and forth game with plenty of action. True to recent form, Patrick Martens stole the show and ensured that his #Leafs stamped their dominance atop the KIJHL's Neil Murdoch division.....for now! Mathematically, BV can still top Nelson by 1 point if they win all their games in hand.

With 2 goals and an assist, including and empty netter, Martens outscored the entire line of Edwards, Martin, and Derochie who only managed a combined 2 assists. It wasnt for the lack of shots as they outshot Nelson 34-26 but couldn't effectively bulge the twine as was so recently proven in the NHL where the Vancouver Canucks outshot their opponent 40-19 but still lost the game 4-0. Could it have been the lopsided power plays? I dont think so as BV went 2-for-3 on their chances while Nelson managed only 1-for-8.

However and whatever the reasons, something needs to be addressed if we want to remain a top contender. Next home game is Saturday Oct 22 when we play host to the Summerland Steam and then the next night Oct 23 against the border jumpers from Spokane. See you at the game!
